Event marking the accession of Armenia to the PCA Founding Conventions

On 18 September 2025, the Secretary-General had the honour to receive the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan, at the Peace Palace as a guest of honour to the event marking Armenia’s accession to the Hague Conventions on the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes of 1899 and 1907.

During the event, speeches were delivered by the Acting President of the Administrative Council of the PCA, H.E. Mr. Juraj Podhorský, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan, and the Secretary-General of the PCA, H.E. Dr. Hab.Marcin Czepelak. Particular emphasis was placed on the enduring relevance of peace and multilateralism, the very principles enshrined in the PCA’s Founding Conventions of 1899 and 1907. These values remain as vital today as at the time of their adoption, underscoring the continuing responsibility of the PCA to remain fully equipped to fulfil its purpose: to maintain international peace through different means of dispute resolution.

The ceremony also featured the unveiling of the National Chair of the Republic of Armenia by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Mr. Ararat Mirzoyan, and the Acting President of the Administrative Council of the PCA, H.E. Mr. Juraj Podhorský.

This was followed by a reception during which diplomatic representatives of PCA Contracting Parties welcomed the Republic of Armenia as a new member of the PCA.
