PCA Bids Farewell to Longest-Serving Senior Legal Counsel

The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) is bidding farewell to Sarah Grimmer, the longest-serving Senior Legal Counsel in its International Bureau. After ten years at the PCA, Sarah will join the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) as its secretary-general, effective September 2016.
Prior to joining the PCA in 2006, Sarah Grimmer was based in Paris, as Assistant Counsel at the ICC International Court of Arbitration and with Shearman & Sterling LLP. Ms. Grimmer is a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and the University of Cambridge. At the PCA, Sarah has acted as registrar in three inter-State arbitrations and has served as tribunal secretary in a variety of investor-State and contract-based matters.
“Sarah is an exceptional and unique colleague in the eyes of her peers, who enjoy her wisdom, sound advice and fountain of experience,” said Judith Levine, PCA Senior Legal Counsel. “Sarah has proven herself as a great international lawyer,” added Martin Doe, also Senior Legal Counsel. “She has also been the source of much cheer in the Peace Palace over many years, as a wonderful colleague and friend.”
The PCA wishes Sarah the best of luck in her new position. Through her, the PCA also looks forward to deepening its ties with Hong Kong and the HKIAC. We will stay in touch.
