PCA to host Vis Pre-Moot in April 2020 and a Buenos Aires Vis Pre-Moot in February 2020

The PCA is pleased to announce that on the 30th and 31st of March 2020, the PCA will host a practice moot in The Hague to prepare students for the 27th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna (scheduled to take place between the 3rd and 9th of April 2020). The Hague practice moot will be held at the PCA’s headquarters in the Peace Palace.

For the first time, the PCA will also host a practice moot in Buenos Aires on the 28th of February 2020, at the San Martín Palace where the PCA Buenos Aires Office is located.

In The Hague, over the two days, each team will have the opportunity to plead twice as Claimant and twice as Respondent. Highly qualified international arbitration specialists from a variety of jurisdictions will serve as arbitrators and provide feedback to the teams. All teams will be scored and ranked and each team will separately receive the scores of its individual oralists. The top three teams will be announced at a final cocktail event.

In Buenos Aires, over a single day, each team will plead at least once as Claimant and once as Respondent. The teams will be similarly assessed by experienced international arbitration specialists and will receive feedback at the conclusion of each practice hearing. Each team will be scored and ranked and will also separately be provided the scores of its individual oralists.

Teams that would like to participate in the PCA Vis Pre-moot 2020 in The Hague are invited to submit an expression of interest to [email protected]. To participate in the PCA Buenos Aires Vis Pre-moot 2020, teams should submit an expression of interest to [email protected].

Expressions of interest should be submitted no later than 13 December 2019. Limited spaces are available. Teams will be informed by 20 December 2019 whether they have been selected for participation in either the PCA Vis Pre-moot in The Hague or the PCA Buenos Aires Vis Pre-moot. There is no registration fee.
