PCA Vis Pre-Moot 2016

On 10 and 11 March 2016, the PCA hosted preparatory rounds for the Twenty Third Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The following teams attended:

– The Hague University of Applied Sciences (the Netherlands);
– University of Auckland (New Zealand);
– Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (Brazil);
– Leiden University (the Netherlands);
– Jagiellonian University of Kraków (Poland);
– Sciences Po Law School (France);
– Maastricht University (the Netherlands); and
– University of Notre Dame (Australia).

Over two days, the teams had the opportunity to plead twice as claimant and twice as respondent in front of tribunals made up of international arbitration specialists with various legal backgrounds. The teams and individual pleaders received feedback on their presentations and were scored by the arbitrators. The team with the highest score was Maastricht University (the Netherlands). The runner-up was University of Notre Dame (Sydney, Australia). Sciences Po Law School (Paris, France) and Auckland University (New Zealand) were tied at third place. The oralist with the highest score was Vivienne Clement from Maastricht University.

The PCA would like to thank all participating teams and arbitrators for their active engagement. The PCA wishes all teams the best of luck for the competition in Vienna.
