Inaugural editions of the Vis Pre-Moots hosted by PCA Singapore and PCA Mauritius Offices

On 11 and 24 March 2022, the offices of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in Singapore and Mauritius hosted practice moot rounds for the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot for the first time.

During the PCA Mauritius Vis Pre-Moot, each team had the chance to plead three times before tribunals composed of international arbitration specialists from various jurisdictions and legal backgrounds. The teams received detailed feedback on their pleadings in order to assist their preparation before the Vis Moot competition commences virtually on 8 April 2022.

The following teams attended the Singapore edition:

  • Brickfields Asia College (Malaysia)
  • National Law University, Delhi (India)
  • Peking University (PRC)
  • University of Sydney (Australia)
  • Vietnam National University (Vietnam)
  • Wuhan University (PRC)

The team with the highest average total score after three rounds was the University of Sydney. The runner-up was Wuhan University, while Peking University placed third. The oralist with the highest score was Ms. Nicole Leong, from University of Sydney.

The following teams attended the Mauritius edition:

  • Ankara University (Turkey)
  • Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla (India)
  • National Law School of India (India)
  • National Law University, Jodhpur (India)
  • Sorbonne Assas International Law School (SAILS) (Mauritius)
  • Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique)

After three rounds, the team with the highest average total score was the National Law School of India University. The runner-up was National Law University, Jodhpur, while Ankara University placed third. The oralist with the highest score was Mr. Prajjwal Rathore, from National Law School of India.
