The PCA is co-organizing a conference entitled “Arbitration and Investment Protection” in Lisbon

This conference on 4 October 2018, in Lisbon, follows the entry into force of the Host Country Agreement between the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the Portuguese Government. The Agreement aims to promote and facilitate the organization of PCA hearings and activities in Portugal. The conference, which will be opened by H.E. Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, examines the Host Country Agreement, Portugal as a seat of arbitration, and new challenges in international arbitration. The Secretary-General of the PCA will join a panel on “Portugal and the Permanent Court of Arbitration: Can international arbitration go through here?” and Senior Legal Counsel, Mr. Martin Doe, will contribute to discussions on the second panel entitled “Portugal and the new challenges of international arbitration”.

This event is jointly organized by the Portuguese Arbitration Association and the PCA , with the support of the Government of Portugal.
