Visit of the Secretary-General of the PCA to Mauritius

From 28 to 31 January 2025, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) visited the Republic of Mauritius on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the PCA Mauritius Office, the PCA’s first office outside its headquarters at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands.
On 30 January 2025, the Secretary-General met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E. Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, in Port Louis. During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the Secretary-General discussed the importance of Mauritius as the first host country of a PCA office outside its headquarters in The Hague, as well as the essential role that the PCA Mauritius Office has played since its opening in 2010 in advancing arbitration and fostering the peaceful resolution of disputes in Mauritius and across the broader region.
On the same day, the Secretary-General met with the Attorney-General of the Republic of Mauritius, the Hon. Mr. Gavin Glover SC, to discuss various matters of cooperation between the PCA and the Government of Mauritius.
On 31 January 2025, the Secretary-General, together with Ms. Balla Galma Godana, PCA Legal Counsel and Representative in Mauritius, Mr. Karim M’ziani, PCA Legal Counsel and MIAC Registrar and other members of the PCA Mauritius Office, welcomed Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and arbitration practitioners in Mauritius for a conference organized on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the PCA and the 15th anniversary of the PCA Mauritius Office. The anniversary conference featured a keynote address by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, H.E. Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, along with various presentations and discussions. The event provided an opportunity for the participants to reflect on the PCA’s rich legacy and its longstanding partnership with Mauritius.
