Arbitration pursuant to Article 32 of the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union (The State of Qatar v. The Arab Republic of Egypt)

In a notice to initiate arbitration dated 20 September 2018, the State of Qatar invoked Article 32 of the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union, which provides that “[i]n the event of a dispute between two or more member countries concerning the interpretation of the Acts of the Union or the responsibility imposed on a member country by the application of those Acts, the question at issue shall be settled by arbitration”. The constitution of the Tribunal was completed on 29 May 2020. Pursuant to an agreement of the Parties, the proceedings were terminated by the Tribunal on 6 October 2021. In accordance with Article 153 of the General Regulations of the Universal Postal Union, the arbitral proceedings were confidential.
