The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) has concluded a two-day hearing in the Republic of Mauritius in an arbitration between an African company and an African State. The hearing marks the first occasion on which the PCA has held hearings in Mauritius under the 2009 PCA-Mauritius Host Country Agreement.

The questionnaire covered topics such as the participation of arbitration users and practitioners based in developing arbitral jurisdictions, the role of institutions in arbitral appointment and decision-making processes, and the effects of rising costs in international arbitration.
read more ›The Arbitral Tribunal constituted in the arbitration between the Republic of Mauritius and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland pursuant to Article 287 and Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (the "Convention") conducted a hearing from 22 April to 9 May 2014 on the Tribunal’s jurisdiction to consider the claims brought by Mauritius and on the merits of those claims.
read more ›At a ceremony held on 12 May 2014, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) and the Centre for Arbitration and Conciliation of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá (CAC-CCB) entered into a formal cooperation agreement. This agreement will strengthen ties between the CAC-CCB and the PCA. Each institution will be able to hold hearings and meetings at the other’s premises and will assist with the arrangement of local support services for such events.

The lectures formed part of the United Nations Regional Course in International Law for Africa held at the same location from April 7 to May 2, 2014.
