PCA to host Vis Pre-Moots in Singapore (24 February 2023), Buenos Aires (2-3 March 2023), Mauritius (9 March 2023) and The Hague (27-28 March 2023)
The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) is pleased to announce that it will host four Vis Pre-Moots to prepare students for the 2023 edition of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Vis East Moot: the 16th edition of its traditional Pre-Moot in The Hague, the 4th edition of its Buenos Aires Pre-Moot and, for the second time, a Singapore edition and a Mauritius edition of its Pre-Moot. These events are important milestones for the 30th anniversary edition of the Vis Moot in 2022-2023, as the 2012 PCA Arbitration Rules are being used for the practical case. The PCA is pleased to be able to organize these events across the globe at all of its international offices, contributing to the long history of close cooperation between the Vis Moot and the PCA.
The PCA Singapore Vis Pre-Moot will be held on 24 February 2023, the PCA Buenos Aires Vis Pre-Moot on 2-3 March 2023, the PCA Mauritius Vis Moot on 9 March 2023 and, finally, the PCA Hague Vis Pre-Moot on 27-28 March 2023. The Mauritius Pre-Moot will take place fully remotely.
At each event, teams will have the opportunity to plead both as Claimant and Respondent. Highly qualified international arbitration specialists from a variety of jurisdictions will serve as arbitrators and provide feedback to the teams. All teams will be scored and ranked and each team will separately receive the scores of its individual oralists, with the top teams announced at a final event. Over the years, over 70 different universities from more than 40 countries across the globe have participated in the PCA Vis Pre-Moots.
Teams that would like to participate in the Singapore, Buenos Aires, Mauritius or Hague PCA Vis Pre-Moots in 2023 are invited to submit an expression of interest to [email protected], noting in the subject line which event they wish to be considered for.
Expressions of interest should be submitted by no later than Friday, 16 December 2022. Limited spaces are available. Teams will be informed by 13 January 2023 whether they have been selected for participation in either the Hague, Buenos Aires, Singapore or Mauritius PCA Vis Pre-Moots. There is no registration fee.
