The Permanent Court of Arbitration is pleased to announce the publication of its 2021 Annual Report.

 

The Annual Report looks back at the activities undertaken by the PCA during 2021 and highlights areas of further extending its services in the future. Noteworthy developments in 2021 include the first PCA Buenos Aires Conference and the third PCA India Conference, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the PCA and the Law Faculty of the University of Cape Town, as well as the announcement of an agreement between the PCA and Viet Nam to set up a PCA staffed office in Ha Noi. The 2021 Annual Report also describes the PCA’s numerous capacity building and training activities around the globe, as well as its contributions to meetings of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group II on dispute settlement and Working Group III on the reform of the investor-State dispute settlement system.

 

In the course of 2021, the PCA’s International Bureau provided registry services in 204 cases, 40 of which were initiated that year.

 

 

Additionally, the PCA received 49 requests relating to the appointing authority mechanism under the UNCITRAL.
