The Permanent Court of Arbitration is pleased to announce the publication of its 2022 Annual Report.

The Annual Report looks back at the activities undertaken by the PCA during 2022 and highlights areas that its services may be further extended to in the future. With Dr. Hab. Marcin Czepelak at the helm as 14th Secretary-General of the PCA, and building on the work of his predecessor, Mr. Hugo Hans Siblesz, whose term as Secretary-General ended on 31 May 2022, the PCA reached new milestones in the last year. In 2022, the PCA signed a Host Country Agreement with the Republic of Ecuador and inaugurated the PCA’s Ha Noi Office and the PCA’s Vienna Office, further broadening the reach of the PCA in light of its mission to be accessible “to all” and “at all times”. The 2022 Annual Report also describes the PCA’s numerous capacity building and training activities around the globe, as well as its contributions to the work of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group II on dispute settlement and Working Group III on the reform of the investor-State dispute settlement system.

In the course of 2022, the PCA’s International Bureau provided registry services in 204 cases, 50 of which were initiated that year.

Additionally, the PCA received 50 requests relating to its appointing authority services.

The PCA’s reports for previous years are available here.
