Third In-person Meeting of the Expert Group
The Expert Group on the Future Development of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (the “Expert Group”), established by the Secretary-General of the PCA at the request of the Administrative Council, convened its third in-person meeting at the Peace Palace in The Hague on 24 and 25 June 2026.
Since its second in-person meeting, held in Singapore in 2025, the Expert Group has carried its work forward through virtual meetings and correspondence, and in December 2025 submitted to the Secretary-General of the PCA an Interim Report on the progress of its deliberations. At the Peace Palace, the Expert Group further advanced its work on the recommendations to be included in its Final Report.

The meeting also featured a presentation by H.E. François Alabrune, Ambassador of France to the Netherlands and Chair of the Special Working Group tasked with the preparation and planning of the commemoration of the PCA’s 125th anniversary, including the Congress of the Members of the Court held from 12 to 14 June 2024. Ambassador Alabrune reflected on the development of the PCA over the past 125 years and shared the outcomes of the Congress, including the strengthened dialogue among the Members of the Court and their renewed commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes.

The Expert Group will continue to prepare its Final Report for submission to the Secretary-General of the PCA later in 2026.
