Austrian Government accords Privileges and Immunities to PCA

The Permanent Court of Arbitration (“PCA”) welcomes the Austrian Federal Government’s Ordinance on the Status of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in Austria (the “Ordinance”). The Ordinance was published in the Austrian Official Gazette on 31 October 2014 (Bundesgesetzblatt, BGBl. II Nr. 273/2014).

The Ordinance accords the PCA the necessary privileges and immunities to conduct activities in Austria in the context of arbitral proceedings. These privileges and immunities are prescribed by the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of Specialised Agencies (BGBl. Nr. 248/1950).

The PCA welcomes Austria’s interest in hosting international dispute settlement proceedings administered by the PCA and is looking forward to strengthening its cooperation with Austria.
