On 7 July 2014, the Arbitral Tribunal constituted under Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in the Bay of Bengal Maritime Boundary Arbitration (Bangladesh v. India) rendered its Award. The Award establishes the course of the maritime boundary line between Bangladesh and India in the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone, and the continental shelf within and beyond 200 nautical miles.

The Secretary-General of the PCA, Hugo H. Siblesz, hosted a meeting of The Hague’s Judicial Club gathering judges and registrars from the international courts based in The Hague and members of the Dutch Supreme Court.
Permanent Court of Arbitration enters into Host Country Agreement with Vietnam
On 23 June 2014, at a ceremony held at the Government Guest House in Hanoi, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, H.E. Mr. Hugo Hans Siblesz, and the First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, H.E. Mr. Ho Xuan Son, signed a Host Country Agreement that would facilitate the PCA’s work in conducting arbitral proceedings within the country. The Agreement took effect immediately upon signing. At the ceremony, letters of cooperation between Viet Nam and the PCA were also exchanged.

PCA holds hearing in Mauritius
The Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) has concluded a two-day hearing in the Republic of Mauritius in an arbitration between an African company and an African State. The hearing marks the first occasion on which the PCA has held hearings in Mauritius under the 2009 PCA-Mauritius Host Country Agreement.

At a ceremony held on 12 May 2014, the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) and the Centre for Arbitration and Conciliation of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá (CAC-CCB) entered into a formal cooperation agreement. This agreement will strengthen ties between the CAC-CCB and the PCA. Each institution will be able to hold hearings and meetings at the other’s premises and will assist with the arrangement of local support services for such events.

On April 16, 2014 Mr. Brooks W. Daly, Deputy Secretary-General of the PCA, held a six hour course on the Peaceful Settlement of International Disputes in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
